Short Primary Research

This research was originally done to help me figure out a name for my music magazine. I wanted the name to be short and vibrant so I thought it was a good idea to conduct a research method in asking my peers what connotations come to mind when they think of the Pop genre of music. I presented my results visually by making each individual in my focus group holding the words they have chosen. I encouraged them to be as random as possible but still within the mist of having the pop music genre within mind.

The words chosen were useful in terms of me having a better idea as to what my target audience would view the genre of pop as. When debating whether to sway towards typical pop genre music magazine conventions this research will help me figure what I would want and not want to add. For example, the word 'fun' was chosen twice. This is useful as it will now mean that I would need to make sure that my magazine has a upbeat, exciting vibe. This could be tackled by the body positioning of the main feature as well as the bright colors that probably would be used.
In conclusion, the results from this conducted research method will be taken into consideration when planning for my photo-shoot in terms of props, format, typography, body positions etc. As well as the narrative content chosen and the main decision maker: the name chosen for my magazine.
